Putting together effective weight loss meals that really deliver results involves a lot more than counting out calories, grams of fat, or the percentage of carbohydrates. These are some common strategies that have proven very effective for many people, but if you are not using more natural foods than processed in your weight loss meals, you are not doing your body very much good.

The biggest obstacle standing in the way of weight loss for millions of people in our modern world is the luxury of convenience. The fast paced lifestyle that most people have to keep up with creates a huge market demand for foods that can be made quickly and eaten on the run.

The problem here is that these convenience foods are overly processed and have been stripped of most if not all of their valuable nutrients. If this is what your weight loss meals are mostly made of, they will not deliver the energy and nutrition your body needs to burn off stored fat, keep metabolism high, and protect your body from disease.

Even with natural foods sold in the produce section, you have to watch out for items that have been sprayed down with pesticides which could have negative consequences for your body when eaten consistently over time. As a rule, any fresh produce that does not have a thick skin that you peel away should be purchased organic if at all possible.

So, what does this mean for your weight loss meals? Do you have to throw away every bit of processed food in your home and tell your children they can never have another store bought cookie? While your system would definitely be a lot healthier if you did just that, most people will fail at doing something so drastic all at once.

Rather, try developing a menu of delicious weight loss meals that incorporate whole grains (not the instant kind!), lean protein, and lots of fresh produce. If you can eat the bulk of your weight loss meals from these healthier, simpler options and do away with processed foods most of the time, you will see serious changes in your overall health.

Designing weight loss meals that are delicious yet simple enough to make on busy nights doesn't have to be demanding or impossible. Try to think ahead and prepare larger portions of your weight loss meals at once, putting them in the freezer in individual serving sized dishes that can later be warmed up.
